Knowing Blaire’s here has my hands itching to drive them into her hair. Press my mouth to hers and fuck her wildly with my tongue. To bring her mind back to focusing on me.

But, my rage, it strikes, pulling me in the direction to what happened to her. It flickers into a roaring red ring of fire.

Christ, my father revolts me. Everything he does tightens around my ribs.

Suffocating.

Right now, I need Blaire in my arms to calm my storm.

I tag her around the waist, shuffle us backward until I’m sitting atop my desk, positioning her between my legs, and bury my face in her hair.

Jesus.

Holding her in my arms is the sweetest torture. It’s a blessing because she’s where she belongs, a curse as she’s not ready to be mine again.

But I want her to be. Goddamn, do I ever.

Her smell, it’s still the same. Wildflowers. Fresh, fruity, and spicy. A combination of all things my mouth waters over. Even now as angry adrenaline courses through my body.

I’m going to rip my father from limb from limb. And not just because of what happened all those years ago. He had a man touch her. My woman does not get touched by his venom, not fucking ever. His warning won’t go unnoticed, and it sure as fuck won’t be in the way he’s hoping to scare me.

No, what he’s done has struck me where it hurts the most, right in the center of my chest.

Sick fuck has me strung tight. Wound in taut tension like a Jack in the Box ready to pop open and scare the piss out of the one who dared to turn the crank.

Attacking a woman no matter what grinds my ass, but attacking my wife brings out the brutal beast in me to find and kill him in the most inhumane way I can think of. Eight years in the Army didn’t just teach me how to be patient and wait for the enemy to get in my line of sight. To shoot him between the eyes, gut him like a fish, and leave him bleeding out, it taught me to fuck with their minds. To tease and taunt and torment.

The low life is in need of a reminder of what his son is capable of, and I don’t mean sending whoever the fuck he sent after her back in bits and pieces. Because I’ve no doubt that’s what Cade is doing right now. One would think he’d run and hide after I’ve killed over half his men, including Abram. Plus, the arrests of dozens of men when the FBI shut down his transporting women in Michigan.

But no, the man is out to destroy me, to make good on his promise.

That motherfucker Steve needs to be taught a lesson too. Idiot should have made sure she got inside safely — fuckface that he is. Mistakes can’t be made when it comes to Dimitri. Caleb brought Steve on; he can be the one to fuck him up.
